Tamworth

Tamworth is part of the vast nation of the Kamilaroi/Gomeroi people. It is located on the western side of the Great Dividing Range, on the banks of the Peel River, about 420 km north of Sydney on the New England Highway. It has a population of 63,070 (in 2021), making it one of the largest inland cities in this area.

Tamworth is also famous as the “Country Music Capital of Australia”, annually hosting the Tamworth Country Music Festival in late January; the second-biggest country music festival in the world after Nashville. The Big Golden Guitar which is located at the Tamworth Information Centre is a replica of the famous Golden Guitar Award and a symbol of the world-renowned annual country music festival.

The city is recognised as the National Equine Capital of Australia because of the high number of equine events held in the city and the construction of the world-class Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre, the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Armidale Family Day Care now has Educators working in the Tamworth region. We are proud to be able to provide high quality, flexible child care to families of Tamworth who are delivering essential services, working in hospitality and customer service industries.

While centre-based care is available in Tamworth, our Family Day Care Educators home based environment provides families with the opportunity to place non-school aged children and school aged care children into care together when they need to, an important consideration when families need after school care and vacation care.
