Information for Educators

Armidale Family Day Care registers community-based early childhood Educators who deliver high quality, home-based education and care. Educators work with small groups of up to four children under school age, providing Family Day Care. Educators also deliver before and after school care and vacation care for up to three school age children.

Our Educators engage in the principles and practices of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and work within the requirements of the Education and Care National Law and National Regulations.

As Early Childhood professionals, our Educators hold an Early Years Education and Care qualification. Educators also maintain current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training, National Police Checks, Child Protection Training and undergo Working With Children Checks.

Armidale Family Day Care Educators work in partnership with our coordination unit who provide regular home visits, monitor the environment and support educators in delivering an educational program.

The service provides professional development training and workshops to Educators to guide their practice, to support their interests and to share insights.

As a family day care Educator you can run a successful childcare service, from your own home. Educators can work with their own children, whilst providing a stimulating educational environment for other children in the community.

Family Day Care Educators work independently, running their own business, giving them the flexibility to set their operating hours, fees and program the way they choose. Although Educators are sole operators, they are a part of a great team of local Educators and enjoy the support, training and resources from the co-ordination unit.

To become an AFDC Educator you are required to hold a certificate 3 or above in Early Childhood Education and Care. Recruiting Educators are required to participate in Family Day Care induction process and pass reference checks, National Police Checks, Working with children checks and be up to date in child protection training and first aid training. Educators are to be over 18, their homes must pass a safety audit to ensure the environment is meeting National Regulations and safety standards.

The coordination unit is open from Monday to Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm. Our coordinators conduct regular home visits to support you and the overall running of your service. The coordination unit support Educators with tailored advice on their service. The coordination unit is available to Educators at all times with an emergency mobile. AFDC also provides ongoing training and professional development in areas Educators are passionate about.

Educators are self-employed and set their own fees taking into account business costs and affordability. Parents pay Via redPAY direct to Armidale Family Day Care.

 

As a self-employed Educator you are required to get an ABN. As you are running your own business you are required to pay your own tax and superannuation. AFDC provides business training to Educators on how to successfully pay your super, tax and make a great income, though Educators are responsible for establishing and maintaining their own business records.

Working from home, building a successful business by combining your love of children and leadership skills. By setting your own fees and making a great income. You set the days and hours you will operate, design and implement your own educational program and get to do things your way.
